Carlsbad, N.M., Small Business Information Meeting
SCMC reaches out to potential Southwest U.S. small business partners
In Carlsbad, N.M., SCMC partnered with U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich and the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) to host a standalone small business information meeting with more than 90 attendees.
Held Oct. 19, 2016, at the Pecos River Village Conference Center, the event included remarks from Bissen, Heinrich, Carlsbad's mayor, and representatives from the Department of Energy and WIPP.
With 30 small businesses represented, 12 chose to meet one-on-one with SCMC commodity managers and many sat down for an informal roundtable session with Bissen to ask questions and learn more following his keynote speech.
"Small businesses have an important role to play in our strategic sourcing efforts" Bissen said. "That provides some with an opportunity for revenue growth. We're looking for best-in-class small businesses who could be potential multi-site strategic suppliers."
