Raising awareness of the SCMC mission and encouraging collaboration enterprise-wide
In Knoxville, TN, the Supply Chain Management Center was an exhibitor during the 18th Annual Business Opportunities Conference, Oct. 13-15, hosted by the Energy Technology and Environmental Business Association.
The event included several hundred registered attendees from a variety of environmental, energy, engineering, construction and other technical services companies, agencies and organizations across the country. It also featured 15 minute sessions for interested small business to sit down one-on-one with SCMC commodity managers to gather information and explore possible business opportunities. eProcurement specialists from the SCMC also met with companies interested in learning more about how online reverse auctions work when conducted by the SCMC and contractor procurement teams.
On Wednesday, Oct. 14th, David Boyd, senior manager of the Small Business Program Resource Center, participated in a panel discussion, highlighting SCMC role within the DOE, strategic sourcing best practices with the enterprise, and how businesses could use SCMC's external website, thescmcgroup.com, to register their interest.
The SCMC team took time while in area to visit with the procurement team at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN.
